Even on the chilliest morning I lay out my bathing suit, earplugs, flip flops, towel, bathing cap & swim buddy. I go through the motions of getting up, not thinking about whether I should go. I  take the next step to get in the car and drive to the lake, get to the water's edge, dip my wrists in, jump in and take 10 strokes. That's all it takes. I'm off swimming and all else slips away with each stroke, breathe in blow out, the rhythm becomes a meditation. 

This is how I do hard things; I take the next step or in this case, stroke.
