I am lucky to have friends who welcome me for Sunday Adventures on their boat. On one trip to Winter Harbor we all climbed aboard feeling the vibe of the music and watching the sunshine as it danced across the water. As we came into the dock the captain called out to lower the volume so he could give directions to his dock hand, but once tied up, we jumped off the boat toward the art gallery up on the hill.
I paused to look around and the place came into focus. The dinghies were tied up waiting for their owners and they rocked with the gentle waves. Their turquoise, red and white colors reflecting onto each other and to the water. It was quieter now, and I could hear the sea birds. I felt a shift in perspective. One minute I was chatting and dancing with my friends, and then I paused. A calmness came over me as I took in my surroundings. Sometimes, that's just what I need in life, a pause, a change in perspective. I shake off the old, take in the new, leading me home to me.
